WHO WE ARE

MARK D. RICH, CPA graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in accounting in May, 1979 and earned his Certified Public Accountant license in July, 1981.  He began his career as a public accountant with a national accounting firm immediately after graduation.  In 1982, he left to begin his own public practice.  Mark Rich’s professional memberships include the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and participant in the AICPA and Nevada Society Qualified Review Program.  Mark is currently a Board Member of the UNLV College of Business and on the UNLV Planned Giving Advisors Board, and has been a member of many boards and charitable organizations in the past.

JOHN WIGHTMAN, CPA graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science/Arts degree in accounting in May, 1989.  He went on to earn his Certified Public Accountant license in September, 1991 and accepted a partnership position with Mark D. Rich, CPA in February, 1994.  His professional memberships include the Nevada Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and participant in the AICPA and Nevada Society Qualified Review Program.  John is currently a member the AICPA Techinal Standards Subcommittee, a Board Advisor for Nevada Fire Chiefs Association, a member of the Henderson Economic Resource Partners, and has been a member of many boards and charitable organizations in the past.

PEER REVIEW - To ensure continuing quality in both financial and tax services, Rich, Wightman & Company, CPAs, LLC participates in the peer review program established by the AICPA.  Our firm immediately realized the importance of peer review and was one of the first public accounting firms in Nevada to participate in the program.  We have completed peer reviews every 3 years since inception and each time received an unqualified opinion.

MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE - Rich, Wightman & Company, CPAs, LLC also offers a wide range of management assistance.  Our staff is skilled in accounting software ranging from basic applications such as Peachtree and Quickbooks to complex custom programs.  We can assist in training bookkeeping personnel on these and many other software packages.  We also offer our assistance in the area of locating, recruiting, and interviewing key accounting personnel and management positions including bookkeepers, Controllers, and Chief Financial Officers as needed.

PUBLIC & PRIVATE - Rich, Wightman & Company, CPAs, LLC specializes in privately owned businesses, but will assist companies who wish to go public.  We help clients with transitionary issues associated with IPOs and other structured offerings, by helping them through the myriad of control, structure and leverage issues associated with these types of offerings.  Few firms have the experience Rich, Wightman & Company, CPAs, LLC possesses and offers in these areas.

CREDENTIALS - The professional staff of Rich, Wightman & Company, LLC is comprised of Certified Public Accountants who have numerous years of experience in public accounting.  Our entry-level staff have earned their Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting and are working towards completing the requirements for certification.  The administrative personnel are comprise of educated, detail-oriented staff who are committed to delivering excellence in each encounter with the clients of the firm.
